YOU CAN’T CHANGE THE WORLD, BUT YOU COULD CHANGE SOMEONE’S WORLD …
Hi everyone! My name is Eirini, I come from Greece and -all going well- I will be travelling to Tanzania at the end of June, together with Wheeling2help, this amazing group of people who have been working in volunteering projects in the remote small village of Gongo. The last two years, with a global pandemic dominating our lives, have been so tough for all of us. At the same time, this period was a reminder that the world is more connected than ever and that there is absolutely nothing in life that can be taken for granted. I can’t find the words to describe my feelings about being part of this project. I can only say thank you to Elpis & Dora, the founders of Wheeling2Help, for giving me the opportunity to go and see how it feels when all the things we consider as given, are actually not..
What we are going to do:
During the last 6 years and in collaboration with the local NGO SANA (Saving Africa’s Nature), the team has painted and equipped the local dispensary, built a chicken farm, toilets and kitchen for Gongo Primary school, a women cooperative building for the Gongo Mamas, as well as an agricultural center for sustainable farming, which soon will become the market place of the village!
This year in summer, we are going back to Gongo village, to get involved in deep with all the projects that the team has started. The main areas of focus are:
Help us raise free funds!
This is entirely a volunteering project. I invite you to help us support this initiative by donating whatever amount you can. With this way you will actively contribute to the success of this mission. The money that will be raised from this fund, will be used to buy necessary materials for the implementation of the project (e.g. we will print and take with us 400pcs of coloring books for the children of Gongo Primary School), as well as to cover basic transportation and food expenses for the team. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
-No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted !
A big THANK YOU to all of you for taking the time to read this story and give your support. Please share our cause and tell your friends about it too!
Few words about SANA and its vision…
The organisation SANA (Saving Africa’s Nature) which is based in Pwani region, in the ourskirts of Saadani National Park, is primarily focusing on the protection of the environment and wildlife using sustainable ways to protect flora and fauna. SANA’s work is targeting in the common participation and involvement of both the local communities and the authorities, from design to implementation. The villages where SANA is operating are Saadani, Matipwili, Gongo and Mkange due their close distance from Saadani National Park and Community Forest of Zaraninge. In these villages SANA has provided support and improved the education, health and the living standards of the people through alternative sources of income.
