We are two students, Petros and Stefanos, in the second year of high school, attending our school’s International Baccalaureate program. We participate in the Volunteens program, created by Make-A-Wish Greece, hoping to fulfil 5-year-old Panagiotis’ wish.
Make-A-Wish is a non-profit organization which aims to fulfil and realize the wishes of children of ages 3 – 18, who suffer from serious illnesses. The purpose of Make-A-Wish is to, above all, give hope and joy to these children, by fulfilling their upmost desire. This has been proven to be highly beneficial to the child’s health and wellbeing. Realizing a wish proves that, even though the world can be harsh and difficult to cope with, anything is possible, and every dream can come true. Fulfilling the wish of a child is not merely about gifting a product to be consumed; it is about offering an unforgettable experience that will preserve the motivation to keep fighting, no matter what obstacles life may bring, and showing our love and support for them.
Panagiotis, suffering from chronic heart failure, wishes to have a four-legged companion, a pet dog he wants to name “White Fury”. Panagiotis imagines her as a small Maltese dog with beautiful white fur. Along with his pet, Panagiotis will also be gifted some necessary accessories for his small friend, such as a bed, blanket, leash, including vaccines and sterilization. After meeting with him, he told us that he dreams of taking care of White Fury himself, taking her out for walks, playing with her, feeding her, and giving her baths. White Fury will offer Panagiotis endless happy memories he will forever cherish, and, for the fulfillment of his wish, we ask for your help. Even the smallest contribution means a lot and will lead us one step closer to bringing Panagiotis and White Fury together.
Sincerily,
Petros and Stefanos
