My name is Fotis Theocharis and I am 28 years old. I climb mountains since 16 years old. I have climbed not only numerous Greek mountains but also 20 peaks in total of mountains abroad, which have been catalogued by Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing. Some of them are mountains of Alps (France, Switzerland, Italy), Andes (Argentina), Caucasus (Russia, Georgia), Himalayas (India, Nepal) and also Kilimanjaro (Tanzania-Africa), Atlas (Morocco), and also various peaks of Bulgaria, Cyprus and Iran.

Very special moment was my recent successfully climb at Himalayas with Antonio Sykari  the spring of 2018, in which we were the first Greeks that were able to reach the peak of Kangchenjunga (8586 m). This mountain is one of the most difficult in the world due to the technical difficulties in climbing and the danger of avalanches. It is a matter of fact that the number of climbers that have successfully reached this peak are only 341, in comparison with Everest which are around 5.000 till today.

My goal the last year is to climb Greek peaks above 1.500 m, trying to help the same time the Organisation of “The Smile of the Child”. Till now I have climbed 55 from total 113 peaks that are on my list, hoping that till the Summer of 2020, I will have been able to complete successfully the total list. By providing the logo of the organization and my own hashtag (#SmileClimb) in every photograph that I share in Social Media I also hope that after climbing 113 peaks, I will have managed to help somehow the “The Smile of the Child” raising public awareness.

The purpose of this crownfunding is to seek for help in my efforts to reach my biggest goal and in the same time the goal of all high level climbers, which is to climb in the second higher and most difficult mountain in the world named K2 (8611m) known also as “The Wild Mountain”. The K2 is located between Baltistan, Pakistan and the China. Only 452 climbers have been able to climb successfully this mountain, while no one during Winter. It is believed to be the most difficult to climb, being included in the category of mountains that have peak higher than 8000 m. Every successful climb there is considered as remarkable news.

My intention is also to climb the next Summer one mountain that is considered landmark for Greek mountaineering, the Broad Peak. Known also as K3, it is one of the 14th mountains of the planet, the peak of which is higher than 8.000 m and the 12th higher mountain on earth, with most high altitude on 8051m located in the borders of Pakistan and China. The first Greek team in July of 1997 reached 7000m while in July of 1999 they reached 7100m. The most recent attempt was in July of 2013 were Greek team managed to climbed about 8.000m. The difficulties of Broad Peak is the continuous danger of avalanches and the unstable and constantly changing weather conditions. My goal is to step on the footsteps of all past Greek expeditions and try to complete the dream of the above mentioned climbers.
