We, the Greek Forum of Refugees, are sending this call to action in order to support the organized Refugee & Migrant Communities of Greece and members of our association. We are calling out to all friends, organizations, businesses and individuals, as well as relevant authorities, in the hope for them to join our efforts, by providing the necessary financial assistance to those that are urgently in need of it.

The consequences of the second lockdown have had a severe impact on the population of Greece, especially on the migrant & refugee population. This turn of events have also affected the functionality of the several organized Communities in Greece since the people that supported their existence have lost their jobs and find themselves in a situation of personal survival. There is no State support, specifically in Greece, to help them out in order to continue their invaluable mission; supporting the thousands of refugees & migrants that need formal information and material help in order to face their daily problems.Furthermore, the communities function as a focal point for these people, who seek not only for a reference point, but also as a connection between them and other solidarity networks.In addition, through the communities the Greek Forum of Refugees achieved to gain access and to support the invisible and most vulnerable people, such as undocumented migrants, homeless refugees and people with serious health problems among others, since the Communities are an essential base for this population also. 

The list goes on and on, and the circumstances are dire. Vulnerability knows no borders, race or religion and vulnerable groups, should finally, be taken under consideration in their entirety. The national emergency system is overloaded and cannot cover all these needs. We should all contribute in order to reduce this pressure on the system and support the existence and the invaluable  assistance that the Communities provide to the most deprived members of our society.

We expect that through your assistance we will be able to keep up supporting the refugee & migrant communities in a practical manner as we know that the current situation will not be over any time soon. 

Starting by just 50€ or more if you are able to, the Greek Forum of Refugees can proceed to cover basic needs of the communities

More precisely:

-50€ can cover communication costs for 2 communities for 1 month

-70€ can cover transportation costs for the volunteers which implement outreach activities 

-100€ can cover operating expenses for 3 open spaces intended for social gathering, offering tea &  snacks and a space for conversation as these gatherings are so important, in a cultural and mental health manner, for the population.

-120€ can cover heating costs for 2 communities for 1 month

-150€ can cover consumables for 2 communities for 1 month
